GOTIKSTRASSE | CAPTURING REALITY
There are some projects that test and define a company. The Gotikstrasse digital heritage project marks the beginning of a journey that will likely define Madchamo.

ROME WASN’T BUILT IN A DAY – JUST ONE SCAN AT A TIME
The Gotikstrasse digital heritage. This name will stick with MADCHAMO for a while, for sure. It marks the beginning of a project that consumed all the time and resources MADCHAMO had — and then some. At the time of writing this, the project is still ongoing and steadily heading toward the finish line.
Together with Christoph Schindelar (Scanning Specialist) and Jean-Claude Grieco from Fotomento, we are part of a cross-border heritage initiative focused on digitally preserving Gothic churches across Austria (and parts of Bohemia). More information about the project can be found on Austria’s national news platform, ORF.
A direct link to ORF’s coverage of the project can be found here.
Our team is responsible for the Austrian side of the digitalization process.
I had the pleasure of working alongside Christoph Schindelar – an incredible professional who shares the same passion and enthusiasm for 3D scanning as I do.
My role involves processing exterior scans using georeferenced photogrammetry and Gaussian Splatting, combining RTK drone data with ground-based captures to reconstruct both the interior and exterior of these stunning architectural structures.
There is much more to come from this project, but for now I’d like to keep things under wraps. Just imagine this: 31 churches to be scanned and digitized using photogrammetry and radiance field technologies. Exciting things are definitely coming to the MADCHAMO website.
