The most important aspect to consider when doing an environment is context, even the one that is not seen by the camera. The surrounding environment it’s like a character itself and plays a huge role to photorealism. Paying attention to details, even the small ones, helps selling the story to the viewer.

Why modeling everything matters

Scenes feel more real when the entire environment actually exists. Even if the camera only sees 30% of it, the remaining 70% influences how light bounces, how shadows form and how the composition breathes. Fully modeling the space gives the render natural depth, consistency and a believable sense of place. Nothing feels “cut off” or staged because the world behind the frame truly is there.
